Strand One: Introduction to Arts Education for Teachers Jun 25, 2012 - Jun 29, 2012
Arts Immersion is at the core of this strand. The overarching theme is about enlivening the artistic part of us and reconnecting with our imagination. The experience will be that of "student" in the arts - learning some basic skills in the arts and beginning to understand some of the concepts of arts education. Although you will go back to your classroom with some new tools and understanding about arts education, the focus is on igniting you as an artist, a necessary first step to teaching the arts. If you are new to arts education, or the arts in general, but would like to dip your toe in the water, this is the strand for you! You will follow two arts disciplines through the week. In the final field of this form, you will see an option to mark arts disciplines in order of preference (1 meaning top preference and 3 meaning least preference.) We will try to give you your top two preferences, but may have to use your third choice to balance the groups. Three semester units at graduate level will be available. Please mark yes or no for units in the appropriate box. The cost will be $180. Registration closes May 16 and participants will receive confirmation soon after that.
